Questions about household goods and personal effects

Do you provide packing materials?

Basically we offer the opportunity of wrapping and packing your furniture and personal effects worldwide through local removal companies. You may prefer to pack yourself and use standard boxes or provide your own boxes or pallets. If you entrust us with the package, we will supply the necessary materials.

Do you pick up our removal goods and deliver them to door?
Yes we offer a worldwide door to door service. However, this is not mandatory and you can bring items to the loading station and also pick them up from the terminal. For transports of personal items into Australia you must collect from the warehouse yourself as per customs requirements in Australia.

Are there any minimum quantities or do I always have to book a whole container?
Consolidated shipment is charged according to cbm and 1 cbm is usually the minimum amount that reaches the settlement. We calculate for you whether a consolidated shipment or a separate container is preferable.

Am I allowed to load and unload the container myself?
Basically, yes, although in some urban areas a permission has to be obtained priorly.

Which documents are requested by customs in Australia?
Please provide a packing list in German/English with estimated values as well as a copy of your passport and the visa for Australia.

For which items or vehicles do I have to pay custom duties and taxes in Germany?
In general, all new goods are liable to duty and tax. For import to Germany or any country of the European Union, duties as well as the local tax (Germany 19%) are payable according to tarif.
Used personal effects are duty-free if the following conditions are met or the following documents are submitted:
•    Proof of a 1-year stay (at least) abroad of Europe (work contract or lease with corresponding consumption calculations)
•    Content list German / English.
•    Copy of passport
•    Current confirmation of registration of the German registration office.
•    work or residence permit for non-EU citizens
 
Are there any items, products or objects that cannot be taken under any circumstances?
It is absolutely prohibited to import any agriculture items including wood or food into Australia, even canned food is not allowed. As well as no alcoholic beverages with more than 19% alcohol. Please contact us in advance if you intend to send any dangerous goods, such as paints or sprays.

Do you also offer relocations to/from Austria?
Yes, via the German seaports, service to and from Austria including the local immigration control as well as handling all required ancillary services is feasible.

Do you also provide transports of relocation goods to/from Switzerland?
Yes, in Switzerland we work with our Swiss partners for moving services.

Can my belongings get wet and where is the container on deck?
You don’t have to worry as water damage is extremely rare. The container is sealed watertight and thus safe from water intake, even if it is in the top or outer location on the carrying ship.

How long does the ocean freight to Australia take?
Depending on the port of destination the transit time on ocean will be 5-7 weeks. Departures are on a weekly basis.

Which ports do you serve in Australia?
Regular direct services are available to Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle, Perth, Brisbane and Darwin.

How do I insure my goods during voyage?
In cooperation with our well respected German insurance broker we can offer you very favourable transport insurances, be it only against loss as a so-called Stranding Cover or against all risks of damage. Due to our low loss ratio, we offer very reasonable premium rates. The individual transport routes can be covered individually, for partial sections as well as from door to door.


Questions about vehicles and bikes to Australia

Am I permitted to leave any personal belongings inside the vehicle during passage?
There are 2 ways how to ship vehicles to/from Australia. When you decide on a container transport it is possible to stow personal items in the car, unlike using a roll on/roll off vessel where it is prohibited and the car must be completely empty.

Do you collect vehicles and bring them to the port?
Due to certain customs regulations this service is only available outside Australia.

Is my vehicle or bike insured while its transported?
We highly recommend to conclude a marine insurance against all risks incl. damage or at least for the unlike event of stranding or sinking. You will find our current premium rates in our offer.

Do you transport unpacked motorcycles?
Motorbikes have to be crated to be shipped in a consolidated container. The wood must be fumigated. On request we will advise you the costs for this extra service.

Which are the customs requirements for entry into Australia?

Prior shipping a permission must be obtained from Australian authorities. Applicable forms are available through us.
For a temporary entry we suggest a Carnet de Passage, which you may obtain from the ADAC.  All vehicles have to be clean, no dirt at all. Gasoline level max 10% and the batterie will be disconnected.

Are there any unexpected costs can arise?
All anticipated costs are included in our offer. However additional costs may incur through official instructions or unanticipated events. This can be an examination or x-ray by customs authorities.

How do I place an order?
With our offer you will get a corresponding order form as PDF. After receipt, we will send you an order confirmation with further explanations about the further handling.

When is the freight payment due?
After customs clearance you will receive a final bill. This is due before pickup or delivery and can be paid by bank transfer or in cash.

How do I pay? Which methods of payment do you take?
Please understand that we only accept wire transfers and cash payments and do not accept any credit cards or checks.

Who determines the conversion rate for offers in other currencies?
To avoid exchange rate differences and to offer comprehensibly, our offers are partly in U.S. $ or AUS$ . The settlement is based on the respective mean rate of exchange on the day of the ship's departure.
